Work Zone & Flagger Safety, MTA Training Print E-mail

This course will teach how to move traffic safely and expeditiously through or around work areas in accordance with standards listed in the Ohio Manual of Traffic Control Devices, the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and ODOT standards. This course includes instruction in the use of hand signaling devices, equipment requirements for employees involved in directing traffic and instruction for flaggers. Various characteristics of traffic control devices including proper signage, the use of type 1, 2, & 3 barriers and other barricade devices will be covered. Lane closure in the near and far sides of intersections, in the center of an intersection and interior and left lane closing techniques will be covered.

Who should attend: Any worker that has responsibility for flagging traffic, working in the roadway or placing signage or barricades for work being completed in the street, including workers who enter manholes (i.e. water distribution workers). Training sessions are open to all MVCC, MVRMA, CLG members and affiliates.

Fee: There is no charge for the program, however registration is required. Early registration encouraged.
