VOLUNTEER OFFICE HOURS
Effective Thursday, May 1, 2025
We, Miami Valley Communications Council (MVCC), appreciate all the time, effort, and creativity you (our volunteers/producers) donate to enable us to provide quality programming to our community. Thank you all.
Due to restructuring within the Volunteer and Government departments, volunteer office and class hours may vary due to scheduled city council meetings, scheduled productions, vacations, holidays, and/or other special productions.
1. Volunteers/Producers will need to register via calling or emailing the Volunteer Coordinator or utilizing the MVCC website calendar page, in order to reserve an editing bay, the studio, podcast and/or equipment for pickup during designated office hours. A one to two business day confirmation will be sent in response to a volunteer/producer’s request (depending on weekends, holidays, vacations, meetings and/or special productions).
2. Volunteers/Producers must schedule an appointment prior to picking up MVCC equipment or utilizing MVCC facilities. No walk-ins permitted.
3. Volunteers/Producers with basic needs (editing, podcast, equipment pickup, etc.) may be aided by the MVCC staff working the early morning hours only with prior approval and confirmation.
4. Volunteers/Producers who come in on days of scheduled city council meetings and/or a special production will be given a verbal 30-minute notice stating they will need to wrap up their project/production.
5. In the event a Volunteer/Producer who “No Call/No Show” after 30-minute period of their scheduled appointment will surrender their allotted time for the day. This situation may be considered a strike against the producer. In the event there are three strikes within a calendar year, you will be on probation for a designated length of time, which will be determined by MVCC staff.
6. Volunteers/Producers utilizing MVCC equipment must submit their completed project within a 90-day period (equipment pickup, studio shoot, podcast recording, editing session) with a completed Request For Cablecast form, unless prior approval was given by the Volunteer Coordinator or the Programing Supervisor for an extension to complete their project.
7. As a professional courtesy to others, Volunteers/Producers must clean up after themselves before they leave for the day. Please put away set pieces, turn off the lights, turn off TriCaster, turn off computers and monitors, put away microphones, audio cables, chairs, etc. This situation may also be considered a strike against the producer.
8. Volunteers are responsible for their own program/production. MVCC staff may be available to assist with the initial production. We encourage said Producers to recruit their own production crew. Volunteers/Producers are responsible for the completion of their own programs/projects.
9. We, MVCC, request all Volunteers/Producers log their hours after concluding their project/production for the day. (Whether editing, studio production, field production, podcast, sports events, concerts, parades, etc.)
10. Volunteers/Producers need to complete at least two projects or have at least twelve service hours (Studio productions, parades, concerts, sports events, podcast sessions, editing) a year to keep their MVCC volunteer/producer certification active.
To schedule equipment pickup/drop off, studio, podcast or editing time, please call Mike Sopronyi at 937-424-1669 or send an email to ten.ccvm@iynorposm.
