WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, OH—The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is proud to partner with the Blue Star Mothers of America, Miami Valley Chapter, to host a community care package drive benefiting deployed service members.

The event will take place on Friday, May 8th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sam’s Club, 1111 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in Washington Township. Community members are encouraged to stop by, enjoy a Sam’s Club cookout (with donations accepted for meals), and contribute to the cause by bringing care package items or making a monetary donation. Attendees will also have the opportunity to conveniently pick up suggested donation items inside the store.

A full list of needed items can be found at www.bluestarmothersmiamivalley.org, or by scanning the QR code on the event flyer to purchase items directly. The Blue Star Mothers of America is a nonprofit organization made up of mothers who have raised, supported, and stood beside those who serve in the United States Armed Forces. Through their work, they provide ongoing support to deployed troops, local veterans through the VA, and fellow military families navigating the challenges of service.

“This event is about more than just sending supplies overseas—it’s about showing our service members that their community stands behind them,” said Sheriff Rob Streck. “We are honored to partner with the Blue Star Mothers and invite our community to come together in support of the brave men and women serving our country.”

Organizers emphasize that being a Blue Star Mother is not just a role, but a lifelong commitment. “When our children choose a life of service, the worry doesn’t stop—it grows. Through this organization, we turn that love into action,” stated Jeannine Dennehy, Vice President of Blue Star Mothers of America, Miami Valley Chapter
