The Supervisor Program


OCT  21st & 22nd, 2025

Will develop and focus on effective supervision strategies that are useful for day to day challenges of being a supervisor. This two-day program is designed to be engaging with job-embedded opportunities for growth. This program is being delivered by individuals who will share personal and real-world experiences.

Day 1: Leadership – Oct. 21st

  • Identify the difference between leading and managing.
  • Recognize how personality affects the way you manage others.
  • Explore the best leadership practices for creating a culture of engagement.
  • Assess your leadership style while identifying your strengths and areas of growth. 
Day 2: Communications 360 -Oct 22nd (1/2 Day)

  • Recognize four core communication styles and how each person’s style contributes to the dynamics of a department or team.
  • Identify how to approach others in the workplace, considering individual communication styles.
  • Explore how conflicts escalate and practice strategies for turning conflict into constructive, productive conversations.
Day 2: Effective Performance Management (1/2 Day)

  • Set, communicate, and apply consistent standards within and among work groups
  • Provide constructive feedback and set realistic goals to build your best workforce.
  • Identify and overcome obstacles to effective performance management and evaluations.
  • Address difficult performance issues.

Brenda Costa, Ph.D., is the founder of Learn Grow Lead, LLC, helping organizations create meaningful, engaging workplaces by equipping managers and employees with the tools and behaviors needed to lead effectively, collaborate, and achieve results. The mission is grounded in over 30 years of experience in workforce development and higher education. Currently serving as the Program Director for Xavier University’s Adult and Professional Education Program, Brenda continues to adjunct in undergraduate and graduate leadership programs at Wright State University and Wilmington College.

New and existing supervisors, team or crew leads, or anyone with people responsibilities seeking to improve their supervisory effectiveness.

When: OCT 21 & 22, 2025

Time: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm each day – LUNCH ON YOUR OWN

Where: MVCC, 1195 E. Alex Bell Road, Centerville, OH 

Fee: $200 Members/$225 Affiliate Members/$250 Non-Members
