MVCC Announcer Calls 100th Varsity Basketball Game

Volunteer has been calling Game of the Week events for 9 years.

Viewers tuning in to the MVCC Game of the Week cablecasts – covering high school football and basketball in the Miami Valley – can expect the best local high-definition sports available on cable access television and online. And while the teams, stadiums, and even crew change from week to week, MVCC announcer Jared Bergstrom has been the consistent voice for nearly a decade. During the Centerville at Fairmont game on December 15, 2021, Bergstrom was recognized for calling his 100th varsity basketball game.

Jared Bergstrom began his announcing career working with Fairmont radio and later joined the MVCC announcing team for the 2012-2013 season. Since then, Bergstrom has become a videographer, highlights editor, producer, interviewer, season schedule planner and also calls other sports for MVCC – all as a volunteer.

“Jared has been serving his community for nine years,” says fellow announcer Jeff Allen. “He’s dedicated a huge chunk of his lifetime to the Miami Valley Communications Council. You can always count on Jared. No one will ever be able to recall the MVCC Game of the Week without mentioning the name Jared Bergstrom.” “Jared doesn’t just announce a game,” says MVCC Government Producer Richard Diaz, “he tells a story and elevates the event. He draws the listeners into the moment. That’s what makes him such a professional.”

Viewers can hear more about Jared Bergstrom’s announcing career on The MVCC Podcast #4, where he recently appeared as the guest, or watch the Jared Bergstrom 100th game Celebration video here.

The Miami Valley Communications Council operates four cable access channels with cable providers Spectrum TV and AT&T TV. Complete program schedule listings, as well as on-demand viewing, can be found at www.mvcc.video. MVCC was formed in 1976 as a council of governments representing the eight member cities of Centerville, Germantown, Kettering, Miamisburg, Moraine, Oakwood, Springboro, and West Carrollton.
