The city of Oakwood will conduct a community meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 to discuss public athletic and recreation space. City officials will make a presentation describing the city’s current public properties and facilities. Thereafter, city officials will ask for public comments regarding the facilities and will solicit thoughts and ideas on possible future facility improvements. The meeting will take place in the council chambers at the city building, 30 Park Avenue. All citizens are welcome and encouraged to attend. |

It has been many decades since the city of Oakwood has seen a new land development of the size underway at Sugar Camp. Aside from this property, our city is essentially fully developed. The statement “fully developed” simply means that the land within our city is developed for its intended use – the “intended use” being stipulated and defined by our city comprehensive plan and our zoning and subdivision codes. It does not mean that every piece of property is used for housing or businesses. In fact, if you look around our city, you will find many areas retained as natural green space. |

Each year we question the validity of the federal government’s annual population estimates. Recently released estimates as reported in the Dayton Daily News indicate that Oakwood’s population dropped by 698 since 2000. Our local data suggests that our population remains stable, as it has been for many years, or is growing somewhat. |
