Class Description
MVCC provides training and equipment necessary for you to become an independent community producer or to become part of a volunteer video team. Upon successful completion of this course and participation in two volunteer opportunities, you will be issued a Certified Producer card and number, permitting you to use the MVCC facilities and equipment for producing programs that will appear on our channels.
Basic Television Production ? introduces you to the use of portable digital cameras, linear video editing, and television production techniques. It also covers basic training in equipment usage necessary to produce a studio program. Teamwork is the key to this style of TV programming. Classes begin the first Wednesday of the month and run consecutively for four weeks. Class meets Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Class size is four to six people.

Testing Out of Classes
The Basic TV classes are mandatory introductory classes that
teach you the basics of making good video, and familiarize you with MVCC
equipment. You may take either based on your interests in portable work or
studio work. However, you can test out of the 12-hours of class work.
We get requests to test out of classes, from video professionals,
hobbyists, students, and producers from other access facilities. Here's the
policy:
1. Provide either a written document or Resume listing your video
experience or education.
2. Pay the class fees.
3. Schedule an appointment with staff to discuss policies and paperwork.
4. Sign up to volunteer for two productions at MVCC (a mandatory
requirement for all class attendees).
Certification Process for DATV Volunteers
Anyone registered at DATV as an active volunteer can become an MVCC
volunteer. Here's how:
1. Pay the class fees.
2. Schedule an appointment with staff to discuss policies and paperwork.
3. Sign up to volunteer for two productions at MVCC (a mandatory
requirement for all class attendees).
Renewing Your Expired Certification
Volunteers with expired certification have the option to become
re-certified without retaking the classes.
