2019 OMAA/OML WEBINAR: HOW TO AVOID AN ACA REPORTING PENALTY AND WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET ONE

 March 28, 2019 – 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Over the course of the past three Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reporting seasons, we’ve learned some valuable lessons about where employers may stumble when complying with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Attendees will learn about critical factors that place employers at risk of receiving a proposed penalty notice from the IRS. This workshop will walk participants through the Employer Shared Responsibility Payment (ESRP) response process, from responding to IRS Letter 226-J through requesting a pre-assessment conference with the IRS Office of Appeals.

Attendees will go home with a checklist of areas they should review to avoid common pitfalls in ACA reporting compliance. Each lesson will be illustrated with case studies.

Learning Objectives:

  • What should we look for to assess penalty risk?
  • How do we respond if the IRS proposes a penalty?
  • What best practices can we adopt to avoid common missteps and prevent penalties to begin with?
