This program is designed for employees who work directly with the public to help them identify both internal and external conflicts before they occur.

Casey

Mark Casey was employed with the Centerville Police Department for over 35 years. He held numerous positions and ranks within the department starting in the uniform patrol division and then later in the detective section and command staff.  He retired in January 2016 as the Line Division Captain where he supervised both the uniform patrol division and detective section.

Captain Casey attending several advanced training opportunities including the Police Executive Leadership College (PELC), Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the F.B.I. National Police Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He also holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Urban Affairs from Wright State University. He has instructed classes in Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Management, Personal and Physical Safety, Workplace Diversity and Conflict Management.

The course will give a practical approach in verbal de-escalation and conflict management and help the participants:     

  • Learn how to recognize the signs of impending aggressive behavior
  • Develop verbal and listening skills to help you handle threatening or potentially threatening people and situations
  • Understand the common symptoms and causes of conflicts
  • Examine various conflict management approaches and identify your conflict management style
  • Learn skills to help you be proactive in problem solving and the handling of conflict constructively

Who should attend:

Anyone who works directly with the public.  Highly recommended for code enforcement,
utilities,
and anyone who has to give “bad news” to a customer.
