Class Description
MVCC provides training and equipment necessary for you to become an independent community producer or to become part of a volunteer video team. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be permitted to use the MVCC facilities and equipment for producing programs that will appear on our channels.

The Basic television class introduces you to core production concepts, jargon and tips, usage of MVCC equipment including HD prosumer cameras, and basic nonlinear editing. Classes begin the first Wednesday of the month and run consecutively for four weeks. Class meets Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8 pm. We accept six people per class.

Current Fees
Member City Resident - $30.00
Non-Resident - $45.00
Registration by the Wednesday before classes start.

To register by phone or for more information about current fees call: (937) 438-8887.

Testing Out of Classes

The Basic TV classes are mandatory introductory classes that teach you the basics of making good video, and familiarize you with MVCC equipment. You may take either based on your interests in portable work or studio work. However, you can test out of the 12-hours of class work.

We get requests to test out of classes, from video professionals, hobbyists, students, and producers from other access facilities. Here's the policy:

1. Provide either a written document or Resume listing your video experience or education.

2. Pay the class fees.

3. Schedule an appointment with staff to discuss policies and paperwork.

4. Sign up to volunteer for two productions at MVCC (a mandatory requirement for all class attendees).

Certification Process for DATV Volunteers
