Municipality of Germantown Announcement of Establishment of Eligibility List Position of Police Patrolman, Full-time Lateral Entry, Personnel Board & Rules & Regulations, section 3.7
Formal applications will be accepted at anytime between the hours of 8:00 AM Monday, March 27th, 2006, and 4:00 PM Friday, April 14th, 2006.
Applications, Job Testing Announcements, and information regarding the selection procedures are available from the police dispatcher at the Germantown Police Department, 75 North Walnut St., Germantown Ohio 45327. Completed applications and resumes may be returned to the Chief of Police via this same office. Applications must be accompanied by a resume.
Selected eligible applicants meeting the minimum requirements for consideration will be notified as to the exact date of an Oral Review Board by regular U. S. Mail. The Oral Review Board will conduct all interviews at the Germantown Municipal Building, 75 North Walnut St., Germantown Ohio 45327.
Salary & benefits information: $28,339.01 yearly (step 1), progressively to $39,562.00 yearly (step 8) . A package of benefits is provided by the Municipality to its employees, including life & medical insurance, tuition reimbursement; vacation, sick, personal & other leave. Probationary period for this position is six (6) months.
Note:
While no position is formally open at this time, the Municipality desires to establish this list in anticipation of an opening. Such list should be valid throughout the remainder of 2006.
Eligibility To Apply
Applicants are eligible for lateral entry consideration when the following criteria have been met:
- must be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED)
- must have a valid Ohio Drivers License
- must be at least 21 years of age
- must NOT have a felony conviction of any type
- must NOT have a conviction relative to domestic violence
- must be presently employed as a peace officer or law enforcement officer in the State of Ohio
- must have at least 6 months experience as an Ohio peace officer
- must currently be certified as a peace officer by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council
- must be a United States citizen
Applicants meeting the above criteria for eligibility shall submit an application and resume to the Chief of Police. This may be done through the Germantown Police Communications Center where applications are available. The address of the Communications Center is 75 North Walnut St., Germantown, Ohio 45327.
Selection Procedures
The successful candidate will complete the following steps in the hiring process:
- Applications will be received and reviewed by the Chief of Police and Municipal Manager. They shall determine which candidate (s) are eligible for consideration.
- The applicants who are deemed qualified for consideration shall be invited to an Oral Interview Board.

- Pre-offer Polygraph
