26. Schoolhouse No. 5

The original schoolhouse on this site was built before 1813. In 1874, the present brick building was erected to replace the original stone building. As with the other eight one-room schoolhouses, No. 5 was closed down when the centralized school system was instituted in 1924. The building has been used as a restaurant and a bank.

In 1957, Schoolhouse No. 5 was renovated to accommodate the communities first bank, the First National Bank of Miamisburg.  In 1968, the bank was robbed three times by the same man.  Click here for the story.
