Programs and Events

Evening programs are scheduled monthly between September and May and feature a guest speaker. The topic may be of local concern or of history in general, but it is always enjoyable and educational. We always begin our evening with some coffee, cookies, and conversation.

The monthly programs for the 2011-2012 season are as follows:

Tuesday, September 20, 2011 - Landmarks Foundation will host a presentation on fostering community support for historic preservation, Hithergreen Center, 5900 Hithergreen Dr., refreshments at 6:30 pm, program at 7:00 pm

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 - Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at 6:30 pm, meal and entertainment provided, reservations please, 433-0123, Hithergreen Center,

Tuesday, November 15, 2011 - Robert Thobaben will present For Comrade and Country: An Oral History of World War II, in honor of Veteran's Day, Hithergreen Center, refreshments at 6:30 pm and program at 7:00 pm

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 - Janet Black will talk about living in Centerville-Washington Township in the 1940s and 50s, Hithergreen Center, refreshments at 6:30 pm and program at 7:00 pm

Tuesday, February 21, 2012, the topic will be the Taft Family Tradition of Public Service, Hithergreen Center, refreshments at 6:30 pm and program at 7:00 pm

Tuesday, March 20, 2012, Melinda Hicks Mohler will discuss the Road to the Civil War, Hithergreen Center, refreshments at 6:30 pm and program at 7:00 pm

Tuesday, April 17, 2012, Leon Bey will tell us about Movie Palaces and Dayton Department Stores, Hithergreen Center, refreshments at 6:30 pm and program at 7:00 pm

Tuesday, May 15, 2012, Rus Kindric will present the Origins of Design of 17th and 18th Century English and American Furniture, Hithergreen Center, refreshments at 6:30 pm and program at 7:00 pm
