Common Warfare,
Parallel Memoirs by Two World War II GIs in the Pacific by
Robert G. Thobaben and the late Carl M. Becker is their story of
being enlisted men serving in the Pacific war zone in a support
capacity. The book was published in 1992 and is now being
re-issued by McFarland & Company, Inc., Publishers in paperback.
In January 2012 it will also be available as an ebook.

Bob, a professor emeritus
of Political Science at Wright State University and a Historical
Society volunteer,
served as a PFC in the 111th Infantry Regiment. This regiment,
which still exists, was founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1747 in
Philadelphia. In
1998, Bob taped a series of interviews, as a project for the
Historical Society, of over 40 Centerville-Washington Township
residents in his home with his wife, Janet, running the camera.
Those fascinating stories from World War II veterans were
published in 2 books; For Comrade and Country: Oral
Histories of World War II Veterans
and War Stories: Oral Histories of World War II. These

John and Barb Moraites
are among the winners of the 2011 Philo T. Farnsworth Awards,
recognizing excellence in cable programming within the Illinois,
Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio region. They received
second place for the documentary "Union Ball" in the Seniors
category. The Moraites are multiple award winning
producers of historical documentaries, having received Philo
awards each year from 2003-2011. Over 100 of their
programs can be watched on the MVCC channels.
