Ethics/Sunshine Law

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
This program will provide an overview of the Ohio Public Records Act and the Ohio Sunshine Law. We will review recent cases and updates on these topics and explore the challenges that public entities face in complying with Ohio Law.

PRESENTERS: Thomas Allen and Susan Willeke
Thomas is a member of Frost Brown Todd LLC. He practices in the governmental services, litigation, and labor and employment areas. He represents clients in a wide array of matters, with emphasis on litigation, employment and labor matters, school law issues, municipal law issues, and alternative dispute resolution. He has defended individual, class, and collective actions, and has litigated several cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the Courts of Appeal in Ohio, and trial courts in Ohio.

Susan Willeke is an accomplished government-relations professional with more than 27 years’ experience in public affairs, communication and public speaking. Susan joined the Ohio Ethics Commission in 2005 as the Education and Communications Manager where she oversees and conducts educational and communication outreach. In that position, Susan presents approximately 200 speeches annually, develops information strategies regarding agency programs and represents the Ethics Commission to Ohio citizens, the media and the Ohio legislature.
