27. Sugar Creek Baptist Cemetery

N. Main St.

In 1802, Aaron Nutt was commissioned to build the first meeting house for the Baptist Church of Sugar Creek on his land directly in front of the cemetery. A road (Main St.) was cut through the dense forest to make easier access to the church. The log church was replaced in 1831 with a stone church. The stone church was razed in 1872. The first burial in the cemetery was in 1803. The cemetery is still in use today.
