This Victorian-era house was built in 1882 for Phoebe Hatfield, a widow, as a part of a small "town farm." Farmers, who were advanced in years and could no longer work their land, built these grand houses along South Main St. where they could retire but still have a small garden. The front porch is classic revival with Greek ionic columns.
