88 E. Franklin St.
![]() |
This houses was built in the 1890s, part of a residential building boom in Centerville that resulted from the increased activity at the stone quarry east of town and from the completion of a railroad spur that connected Centerville with other communities. This house is an excellent example of Eastlake architecture. Although Victorian in origin, Eastlake is more ornamental including the lavish use of scrolled woodwork and turned posts. The porch on this particular building has table leg posts, round brackets, and turned lattice work. This home was authentically restored in 1979, even to the paint color. |
