Joseph Vorhees, a carriage and wagon maker, purchased the lot and a brick building, built before 1825, from Benjamin Robbins in 1826. A large two-story frame house was added to the front in 1827. In the late 1800s a peak in the front roofline and the Victorian porch were added. In more recent years, this porch has been removed.
