Green Park was one of four locations that the newly created Park District wanted to development because of its high concentration of homes. The site became a park in part by density zoning and part by purchase after being leased for a period of years. The playground equipment was updated in 1998.

Around 2000, the Park District started replacing all of their tennis courts, one park per year, by building them from scratch with the newest in court construction. The base is more substantial so that the asphalt doesn't crack as the ground shifts underneath. In the early years, the winter temperatures were cold enough to allow ice skating in the parks. The Park District flooded a low area of Green Park and the ponds at Oak Creek South Park and Rosewood Park. Unfortunately, there hasn't been good ice skating weather for many years, so this practice has been discontinued. |
