Picturing Our Past - Do you love to draw, paint and work with crafts? Explore Centerville's rich history by using various art materials and techniques to learn about architecture and artifacts.  We will work both indoors and out, with a snack provided daily. 

Students entering grades 5, 6, 7, 8

July 19-21, 9am - Noon          Fee: $45 for 3 mornings

 

Stories in the Stones - You have never been on a scavenger hunt like this! Explore a local cemetery filled with secrets of Centerville's past.  Enjoy sketching, gravestone rubbings, and searching for clues.  You may become an expert CSI (Cemetery Stone Investigator).  Snack provided.  (Rain date July 28)

Students entering grades 3, 4, 5         

Session 1: July 26 - Sugarcreek (Old Centerville) Cemetery and July 27 - New Centerville Cemetery

9am - Noon        Fee: $30

 

A Summer Day of Work and Play - Spend a morning in the 1890s in Centerville and Washington Township.  Do the wash (laundry), make a tin lantern, and make butter and eat it on crackers.  When you finish your chores you can take a pretend trip to the Githen's Store for penny candy and then play games.

Games of Long Ago - Did you know that a Centerville team once won a Quoits tournament? Learn to play quoits and other games that kids used to play, like marbles and graces.  Make a game to take home.  Snack provided.

A School Day the Old Time Way - Step back in time to the days of one-room schools in Washington Township.  Learn to cipher (do math) on a slate, write with a pen dipped ink, draw what you see in nature, read from a McGuffey Reader, play a game at recess, and eat a snack from a metal lunch pail.
