Becker is their story of being enlisted men serving in the Pacific war zone in a support capacity.  The book was published in 1992 and is now being re-issued by McFarland & Company, Inc., Publishers in paperback.  In January 2012 it will also be available as an ebook.  For information on purchasing the book visit www.mcfarlandpub.com.

Bob, a professor emeritus of Political Science at Wright State University and a Historical Society volunteer, served as a PFC in the 111th Infantry Regiment.  This regiment, which still exists, was founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1747 in Philadelphia.

In 1998, Bob taped a series of interviews, as a project for the Historical Society, of over 40 Centerville-Washington Township residents in his home with his wife, Janet, running the camera.  Those fascinating stories from World War II veterans were published in 2 books; For Comrade and Country: Oral Histories of World War II Veterans and War Stories: Oral Histories of World War II.  These books are available at Asahel's Emporium.
